School Motto
Labore et Virtute

Introduction
Chong Gene Hang College was established in 1971 as the first secondary school in Chai Wan. It was named in memory of Mr. Chong Gene Hang, a Chinese American philanthropist, and his wife. The school, siblings with St. Joseph's College, La Salle College, De La Salle Secondary School N.T. , and Chan Sui Ki (La Salle) College, is affiliated with the La Salle Brothers and is a government-aided Catholic secondary school.

Vision
The school’s educational mission is rooted in faith and enthusiasm. Drawing inspiration from the teaching of Christ and the visionary founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle, the school promotes a humanistic and Christian education. Embracing the motto “Labore et Virtute”, the school strives to foster a sincere, open and proactive campus culture. It encourages students to pursue excellence in both their academic endeavors and personal growth, nurturing their sense of loyalty and integrity. The school is committed to facilitating the students’ holistic development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, social skills, and aesthetics. Furthermore, it aims to broaden students’ sense of social responsibility, igniting their passion to serve the community and establish a world of harmony and justice.

Mission
The school imparts humanistic and Christian education to students, helping them learn and live with others in harmony while nurturing them to become upright and virtuous individuals.

Vision and Mission of Catholic Schools
Catholic schools are dedicated to carrying forward the enduring legacy of the Catholic Church in the realm of education. As such, they are steadfast in upholding a set of fundamental values and imparting them to the younger generation, equipping them with the necessary tools for their future endeavors.

Truth It is what the human intellect is searching for.
Justice It is the moral virtue that consists of a constant and resolute will to give to God and one’s neighbours their due.
Love     It is the greatest of all virtues.
Life     It is a priceless gift from God and is sacred in itself.
Family    It is the basic unit of society.

Catholic schools must cultivate the above core values through the following means:

  1. The school acknowledges that education is a collaborative effort involving various stakeholders. It is important to respect the diverse backgrounds of school stakeholders and work together with them to fulfill the school’s vision and mission.
  2. A family-like environment filled with trust and care should be provided within the school.
  3. The regular curriculum of the school should incorporate religious education courses developed by the school’s governing body. The school should also organize religious rituals and activities, such as morning prayers and religious ceremonies, to foster the Catholic spirit among teachers and students.
